Family Farm Chores

Show your family where their food really comes from!  Join Stratford’s Farmer during morning chores. Take a turn feeding the goats and sheep, put your hand under a hen while collecting eggs, pacify the hungry hogs with homegrown grains and much more.  Reservations Required:  $12/family/limit 12 families.

All Horse Parade

Come and see the best parade around!  The All Horse Parade is a non-motorized parade featuring 400 horses, more than 120 units, and great bands.  Starts at the Main Entrance to the fairgrounds at 3pm and marches though Historic Downtown Delaware and neighborhood streets!  Bring your lawn chairs, friends, and neighbors, and enjoy yourself at one of the largest annual horse parade gatherings east of the Mississippi!

Meeker Homestead Museum Tours

Sundays 2 to 5pm

August 28th marks the opening of the Meeker Homestead Museum for tours Sundays from 2 to 5pm.  Tours will continue each Sunday until October 30th.  The first full exhibit is “Political Campaign Memorabilia” including unique campaign items both vintage and modern plus other artifacts with political connections.  Most Sundays, the Barn will also be open for tours, as long as there is no scheduled event on any given Sunday.  Open to the public, the suggested admission fee would be a donation of $5 per person.

Benefit Concert for People In Need of Delaware County

Bring your blanket or lawn chairs and your own refreshments (NO Alcohol, please) to the Powell Amphitheater for a live concert by The McCartney Project, a tribute to Paul McCartney and Wings and The Beatles.  Those attending are requested to bring a bag of canned goods as a donation to “People in Need of Delaware County”.  PIN representatives will man collection stations around the amphitheater.  Enjoy great music and restock some food items for those in need.  Concert is also sponsored by Lape, Mansfield, Nakasian & Gibson and the City of Powell.  In the event of inclement weather, the concert will not be held.

Labor Day Flea Market and Ox Roast

Enjoy a day full of activities on the square in Sunbury.  Hunt for unique and antique treasures at the flea market and the shops and the square.  Don’t miss the pit cooked beef and other great food!  New this year:  Drive Through Sandwich Service!  Watch for this and pick up a delicious ox roast sandwich!

Dog Days of Summer Pet Walk

Registration is required and is limited to the first 100 animals.  Check in (and Step-off for the walk) will be at the Main Street Delaware office, 20 E Winter St.  Photos of registered pets will be posted on Facebook.  The pet with the most “likes” will be the “Furry Marshall” of the holiday parade in November!

Preserving the Harvest

Join us at the Stratford kitchen to learn how to can fresh garden tomatoes!  This hands-on workshop will be led by Sue Harter who will also discuss topics such as freezing, sauces and dehydration techniques.  Bring a packed lunch and leave with confidence, knowledge and fresh canned tomatoes!
